The huffingtonpost, published a news on 16 feb, 2019 titled ” CBI Probe Ordered Against Nitish Kumar In Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case (archive link)”. The website said that “A court has directed the CBI to conduct an inquiry against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and two senior bureaucrats in connection with the Muzaffarpur shelter home sex scandal”.

Facts Check Analysis:

This news has been viral for some time, there was a news flash on social media as well as on many news websites and news channels. The news was from Bihar and it was said that the POCSO Court has ordered CBI probe against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. These orders have been given to investigate the role of Nitish Kumar in Muzaffarpur case.

But this story is wrong. No such order has come from POCSO Court. Times of India which has earlier published this news (archive link) has removed the news citing “This story has been removed due to inaccurate information”.

In Bihar's famous Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case, the CBI has arrested many people. One of the arrested accused is Dr. Ashwini. He was accused of giving injections of drugs to minor girls. He was arrested in November, 2018. Through his lawyer, he had sought an inquiry into the role of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in running a Shelter Home by giving an application through a lawyer in the POCSO Court. In his petition, Ashwani had said that the CBI tried to suppress the facts, which had to be investigated on the role of DM Dharmendra Singh, senior IAS officer Atul Prasad and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar before Muzaffarpur. After this the application was forwarded to the CBI under a general procedure.

But due to this reason the rumors spread that the court has ordered a CBI probe against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Apart from this, it was also rumored that CBI probe would be done against IAS Dharmendra Singh and IAS Atul Prasad too.

The news is fake and there is no report of Case against the CM Nitish kumar.
