Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif
Rating: 6/10 Review By: Pravin Pathak

Phantom is a movie based on novel Mumbai Avengers, a thriller by crime journalist Hussain Zaidi. The avengers in the title are a few brave Indian agents who go after the Pakistani masterminds who planned the horrific attack of Mumbai in November 2008. Director Kabir Khan’s retelling of the story, the team of avengers becomes two people — Saif and Katrina. Saif plays Daniyal, a disgraced Army officer who sees this as his one chance at redemption. This idea, of a fallen man who finds salvation in a second chance, is not exactly new. Once Daniyal accepts the mission impossible, he goes through various countries nailing the baddies. Katrina plays Nawaz Mistry. She works for some sort of American security company, which enables her to get in and out of war zones.

The movie starts with starts with a road chase scene, that looks like not complete, but as the movie moves ahead, you can see it is well directed.
The first half, the movie builds itself for much of the second half of the movie. As per with the novel, daniyal takes revenge of the people involved in the Mumbai terror attack of November 2008, leading it self to the second half of the movie But Phantom becomes far more coherent and gripping in the second half, when the action moves to Pakistan. By the end, the story is genuinely moving. Kabir Khan and his co-writer Parveez Shaikh press all our patriotic buttons. You will enjoy every part of it. Credit for this also goes to other actors, especially Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who is a master of saying so much with so little. Saif is consistently persuasive and he shines across the second half and eventually wins you over. Katrina is ok to watch.

Phantom does deliver on this promise. After watching the entire movie you wont be having much feeling of unsatisfactio. this is a movie which deserves 6 out of 10 ratings.
