New Delhi: Unlike the Election Commission's (EC) claims, a case has come up in Maharashtra which tempts to prove that Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in Maharashtra was tampered and all the Independent votes went to BJP. This disclosure was made on Saturday (July 22) with information received under the Right to Information Act. RTI activist Anil Galgali told that during the recent elections in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, the matter of tampering EVMs was noticed during the voting in Sultanpur village of Lonar. Galgali said, "Whenever the voter would press the button of coconut symbol allocated to the respective each candidate, the LED bulb in front of the election symbol Lotus of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would emerge. The information officer gave the information to the Collector, which was revealed in the information received from RTI. "

An independent candidate of the area, Asha Arun Jore, had complained about the disturbance that occurred during the voting on February 16 and asked the election officer to submit a report on the matter, after which Galgali filed an RTI on June 16.

Galgali said, "Information received under the RTI from the District Election Department of Buldhana has been told that the voter has registered the polling station number 56 in the Sultanpur village of Lonar town when the election symbol of the Independent candidate on serial no. 1 When the coconut button was pressed, then the BJP symbol light would glow, so that the BJP went to the vote.

The shocking thing is that when Asha Arun complained about this on 10 AM in the morning of polling, the election officer appointed at the polling booth refused to take cognizance of it.

They said that, but when many voters complained, the Election Officer took cognizance at 1.30 pm and agreed with the polling agents of all political parties before taking action.

After examining the complaints, Election Officer Manikrao Bajad got the complaint correct, whose election commissioner Ramnarayan Sawant confirmed. Ramnarayan told Lonar's election officer to the matter.

Assistant to the Lonar's election officer then reached the polling station himself and the complaint was found to be true that the candidate vote was going to the BJP candidate after pressing the button with the symbol of a particular candidate.

Polling was canceled at the polling booth after voting by several election officials to the District Magistrate, the polling station was closed, the messed EVM machine was sealed and EVM machine kept as an additional option.

But when several political parties raised the demand for voting again, the poll was completely canceled and the polling was redone on February 21 after five days.

Galgali said, "This issue proved to be possibility that tampering in EVMs is possible. For the first time, a voter turned his attention, after which many voters confirmed it and the election officer and other officials verified the complaint and sent the report to the district magistrate. "

Can a EVM machine be hacked, looks like the RTI report confirms this.

Galgali said that the most surprising thing is that the Election Commission has consistently denied the possibility of tampering EVMs and even challenged political parties to tamper with EVMs.
