Sandhya Marawi, a 30-year-old woman is India's first lady coolie who is also breaking stereotypes. Sandhya works out of Katni Junction in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur. It is also true every evening she manages the journey to 45 Kms from Kundam to Jabalpur, then to Katni railway station. She has been doing this job since January 2017 and carrying weight on her head and shoulders and giving tough competition to the fellow men coolies on the station of Jabalpur.
Sandhya told the daily bhaskar that when on October 22 last year her husband passed away after prolonged illness she was faced with the challenge of raising her three children and looking after her mother-in-law.
