Chile, tsunami alert: Earlier there was a tsunami alert issued after a powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Chile was felt. Initially the earth quake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers and an alert was issued under 1,000 kilometers from the quake's epicenter.  

The tsunami alert in Chile has now been lifted, as per the news from BBC.

Earlier Alert

Earlier This Sunday a tsunami alert was issued within 1000 kilometers from the quake’s epicenter. The earthquake tremors were felt was heavy. According to Reuters 225 kilometers southwest of Puerto Montt, a 7.7 Magnitude shocks were recorded. Immediately after this a tsunami alert was issued. The alert was issued within 1000 km radius from the center of the earthquake. The center of the quake was 10 Km.

No causalities has been yet reported.  

The quake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers. Puerto Montt is in Chile's southern lake district. It is 655 miles from the capital city Santiago 

There was earthquake in Chile last month also. It was massive earthquake of 6.4 magnitude but there was no loss of life and property that time. The US Geological Survey says, the quake was centered at a depth of 90.8 kilometers. This area is under earthquake affected areas. This year many earth quakes have occurred in chile and earliar many earth quakes have occurred which have led to many deaths.
