News Claim: In a viral message on social media, a false claim is being made about the child helpline. It said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that people can call 1098 in India if someone is hosting a party and is left with food. This is a helpline number for children. After calling, his team reaches home, collects all the remaining food and takes it with them.

News Verification: The viral claim turned out to be false. 1098 Child Helpline does not collect leftover food. This is the emergency helpline number of an organization working to protect and help the rights of children.

When we started searching for news with related keywords and we came across an article on Business Standard published on July 16, 2018. In which a clarification was issued by the Child Helpline regarding the viral message on social media. The child helpline 1098 is an emergency helpline, which provides assistance to children in distress, the report said. The helpline has nothing to do with leftover food.
