News Claim: The senior citizen ticket fare reduction had already been removed by the Indian Railways. The Railways said that the senior citizen ticket fare exemption had been withdrawn due to the significant drop in rail fares. A new report claimed that the railroads would also collect fares for youngsters under the age of five. The Railways, however, has provided its explanation on this.

Railways gives free travel to children up to five years in the train, but recently a news came, in which it was claimed that the railways will also charge full fare for children up to 5 years. After the arrival of this news, the criticism of the railway started, after which the railway has denied this news.

News Verification:  The Railways declared this rumour to be inaccurate and stated that even today, children under the age of 5 are permitted to travel for free. For this, though, a different arrangement has been developed. That is, if you reserve a seat for a child under the age of five, you must pay the entire ticket price. You only need to write the person's name on the ticket if you choose not to take a seat. There won't be any additional rent due for this.

Know the rules of the Railways.

According to the Ministry of Railways, no fare is charged for a child up to five years old. In this regard, a circular was issued by the Railways in the year 2015 itself. Railways has made special arrangements for children, according to which ...

  • Children in the age group of 5 to 12 years will get a half ticket for traveling by rail, but they will not be given a separate seat.
  • For children up to 12 years of age, you will have to pay the full fare for a separate seat.
