Facts Check Verdict: That is not sydney metro. That is Sydney train -they do have metros. These are waratah series trains.

News Verification: The text quoted with the train video stating that Sydney would be getting 22 metro trains from India, under Make in India initiative under the Narendra Modi government. The claim is totally false, there is no such events happening, as of now. 

The video was shared on various social media platforms especially facebook and twitter, it was shared by more than 30k users in a short time.

The video viral on social media is actually of the Australia, Sydney railway.

The same video is available on YouTube, titled “VERY BUSY NIGHT AT LIDCOMBE RAILWAY STATION”. The video was uploaded on July, 2015, with some more information as “A wide range of Sydney Trains rolling stock at Lidcombe station, shortly after the end of a major event at Olympic Park.”. This are double Dekker trains, used in Sydney since 2014.

 

Yes some trains were manufactured in India, but not the viral video. The trains are not build under Make in India initiative, it was built by alstom.  Trains were manufacture by the company alstom, in India, in Andhra Pradesh in 2018, but not the one viral.

In 6 December 2018 – Alstom achieved a significant milestone by completing the last of the 22 Metropolis trains for Sydney Metro, currently being delivered on schedule from its Alstom’s Sricity facility in Andhra Pradesh.

As mentioned in the website, Designed uniquely for Sydney by Alstom in France and assembled at its centre of excellence in Sri City India, with contributions from Alstom’s operations in Australia, Brazil, China and Belgium, the Metropolis trains demonstrate Alstom’s leadership in urban mobility. Passengers have been placed at the heart of the development of this new train with the emphasis on on-board mobility and comfort.

The below train was manufactured in India.
