Fake news claim: A video viral since 2018, shows a group of people claiming to burn the Constitution of India. The news is viral as RSS burning constitution.

The group of people in the video can be heard saying, “संविधान मुर्दाबाद ,आंबेडकर मुर्दाबाद ,आरक्षण मुर्दाबाद (Constitution murdabad, Ambedkar murdabad, reservation murdabad),” Other slogans that were raised are, संविधान जलाओ देश बचाओ  (Burn the Constitution, save the nation.)” and मनुवाद ज़िंदाबाद (manuvad zindabad), SC/ST Act murdabad.

Facts Check Verdict: Old Video, Not RSS

News Verification: The video is not new and viral since 2018.  The original video was uploaded on YouTube on Aug, 2018, titled as “Fringe groups booked for burning the Indian Constitution”. A YouTube group known as Citizens for Justice and Peace, uploaded the video and content stating, “Burning the Constitution is rejecting democracy and secularism which is what India stands for. An FIR has been lodged by Akhil Bhartiya Bheem Sena against the fringe groups who burned the Constitution in New Delhi on August 10th, 2018. The hooligans shouted anti-constitution, anti-Ambedkar and anti-SC/ST slogans while burning the Constitution.”

As per hindustantimes, Delhi Police has arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly burning a copy of the Indian Constitution during a protest march at Parliament Street. According to police, Anil Tanwar, national in-charge of Akhil Bhartiya Bheem Sena, filed a written complaint regarding the matter on Thursday evening. In his complaint, he alleged a protestor burnt the Constitution and raised slogans against BR Ambedkar and SC/ST community. The police team found out two different organizations — Youth For Equality Foundation (Azad Sena) and Arakshan Virodhi Party — were holding the protest jointly at Parliament Street. While the Arakshan Virodhi Party was demonstrating under the leadership of Deepak Gaur, the Youth Equality Foundation was headed by one Abhishekh Shukla. After the collection of evidence, three different police teams were formed to nab the accused

Thehindu reported on Aug 2018 as An FIR has been registered against an organization for shouting slogans against the SC/ST community and burning a copy of the Constitution during a protest at Parliament Street, the police said on Friday.

None of the people in the video belong to RSS, hence it is untrue that RSS ever burnt the constitution.
