The Indian government has removed a senior air force officer reportedly after Pakistan’s successful strikes and capturing of a pilot on February 27.

The decision came after Pakistan’s surprise response against Indian aggression on Wednesday when two IAF fighter jets were shot down and a pilot was arrested for violating airspace.

Facts Check Analysis Many of the Pakistan media, such as thenews and many aspiring journalist jumped the guns when the went ahead and reported that Indian Airforce Marshal Hari Kumar was sacked post capture of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

IAF tweeted about Air Marshal and clearly mentioned the retirement it said “Air Marshal Chandrashekharan Hari Kumar, AOC-in-C, Western Air Command IAF retired on 28 Feb 2019 after an illustrious career spanning over 39 yrs. The Air Marshal was commissioned in the Flying Branch of Indian Air Force in the year 1979.”

The Air Marshal was a Qualified Flying Instructor & a Fighter Combat Leader with more than 3300 hrs of flying to his credit. He was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command prior to his appointment as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command.

Post Air Marshal Hari Kumar, Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar took over him.
