Multiple Fake news claims-: False news shared M K Venu and others reported fake news on Narendra Modi, related to income tax declaration. At Times Now event PM said only 2200 people show taxable income of Rs1 crore plus annually.

The fact is 97,689 persons declared income of Rs.1 cr and above in 2018-19 AY. Such gaffes, also seen in the past, represent chaotic governance at some deeper level! And this from strongest PMO!

IT dept has officially endorsed data given by PM that there are only 2200 professionals - CA, lawyers, doctors, etc- who show annual taxable income of Rs.1 crore & above. Actually the big four CA firms have over 2000 partners & 2nd level directors earning that much!

Facts Check Verdict: False

News Verification: Many people on social media including the left-wing sympathizers quoted it wrongly about the PM statement made recently about the tax declaration and the number of people who declare tax having an income of more than 1.5 crores.

In a recent event at times now on February 12, the OM said out of the total population of India of about 130 crores, only 1.5 crore people pay their taxes and number of people announcing income over 50 lakhs is just 3 lakh. Watch the video below.

The PM actually was actually talking of professionals working in India and this was that figures, he said, “among the numerous professionals, only 2200 professionals declare their annual income to be above Rs 1 crore.”

It is tough to understand how a journalist can hear it all wrong and try to peddle fake news. MK Venu, the founder of the far-left propaganda website, The Wire.

As per Income tax department,  “In the ITRs filed by individuals in a current financial year, only about 2200 Doctors, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers &such other professionals have disclosed annual income of more than Rs.1crore from their profession(excluding other incomes like rental, interest, capital gains, etc)6/6”

In the video PM, Modi was not stating the total number of people who had declared income over Rs 1 crore. He was specifically discussing the number of professionals and had mentioned clearly that out of the many professionals in India, only 2200 people had declared an income over Rs 1 crore.
