IT dept has officially endorsed data given by PM that there are only 2200 professionals - CA, lawyers, doctors, etc- who show annual taxable income of Rs.1 crore & above. Actually the big four CA firms have over 2000 partners & 2nd level directors earning that much!

The BJP IT cell only started the controversy by tweeting from the @BJP4India handle that the PM said only 2200 people have declared income above 1 crore. With such misreporting of their own leader’s statement they are now lashing out at everyone else who is correcting them! https://t.co/KkI17L5HoN

Seeing 130 cr population - Income Tax think they can collect tax more & more by increasing the net. Only 1.5 cr people paying tax as per PM's speech. PM says only 2200 declared Rs. 1 cr & above to Income Tax. (This data not correct. 97,689 people declared above Rs 1 cr income) https://t.co/dWuh9lyDFm

Facts Check Verdict: False
News Verification: Many people on social media including the left-wing sympathizers quoted it wrongly about the PM statement made recently about the tax declaration and the number of people who declare tax having an income of more than 1.5 crores.
In a recent event at times now on February 12, the OM said out of the total population of India of about 130 crores, only 1.5 crore people pay their taxes and number of people announcing income over 50 lakhs is just 3 lakh. Watch the video below.

The PM actually was actually talking of professionals working in India and this was that figures, he said, “among the numerous professionals, only 2200 professionals declare their annual income to be above Rs 1 crore.”
It is tough to understand how a journalist can hear it all wrong and try to peddle fake news. MK Venu, the founder of the far-left propaganda website, The Wire.
