Drinking and smoking: In Dubai non-Muslims are allowed to drink, however they have to follow certain rules associated to drinking. Drinking in Dubai is allowed only in the licensed areas. If someone is planning to stay in Dubai you should have a license to purchase and consume alcohol. If you are caught in Dubai with any trace of alcohol while driving, you can be caught, imprisonment and even deported. Smoking is banned in public offices and places such as shopping malls.

Sex outside marriage and other display of affection: is not allowed and you will end up in jail and up to six years in jail. Holding hands, kissing or gets cozy with your other half could lead to arrest and imprisonment. There has also been cases in Dubai where girls who have complained of sexual assault landed in jails. One such example Marte Deborah Dalelv, 24, was last week sentenced to 16 months in prison for extramarital sex after she reported being raped. So better be safe and protect yourself if you are in Dubai.

Drugs

Dubai has zero tolerance towards drug offences, and you may face serious consequences if caught. Dubai has its own regulations regarding controlled drugs. So, if visiting with prescription medicine, it is better to verify if your medicines have any particular restrictions. For instance, Tylenol 3 is restricted due to the presence of codeine in it. So it is best to check before travel. Also, if you are travelling with prescription medicine, it is better to carry only the amount required for your travel. Many people who are travelling to another destination and having transit at Dubai, if they are also found with residual amount of drug can land up into jail. The minimum jail term for drug abuse is 4 years.

Dress Code: women should dress modestly especially in public areas. Clothes should cover the tops of the arms and legs, and underwear should not be visible. Swimming attire should be worn only on beaches or at swimming pools, however you should cover your body parts, there is no top less sun bathing in Dubai.

Use of checks: for making large payments mostly checks are used in Dubai. However bouncing of check payment is a savior crime.

Religious issue: Islam Is the religion followed in Dubai, however you are allowed to follow your own religion. Anything that is done against Islam is strictly not tolerated in Dubai. In the month of ramzan Muslims will fast from sunrise to sunset, during this time it is unacceptable for someone eating, drinking or smoking in public.

Living relation: Unless you ar married in Dubai, you are not allowed to live together. You can be jailed for this if caught. Marriage and birth certificate is verified by authorities.
