25th December, Christmas-  Joseph and Mariam gave berth to Jesus on 25th December in Bethlehem, Arabia.  Christmas was celebrated to celebrate his birth and is celebrated as the Birthday of Jesus Christ.

There are many controversies surrounding the dates of his birth and also about his father. But one thing is sure that people get holidays during this period without any issues. Shops are ready to pay huge discounts in India and abroad. As long as people are happy, celebrations should go on without thinking about controversies.

Number of Christians in world : The word Christian, itself comes Christ. As per Wikipedia, Christianity is the world’s largest religion. There are over 2.4 billion people who follow this religion.

Controversies:  Issues are always on the net relted to his birth date and why Christmas is celebrate on december 25? Stories about Joseph and Mary is also popular on internet. We can't say anything for sure, as there is no way to go back to history and find proof of it.

Causualties during Christmas? As per the survey from CNN, many people die during Christmas. It might be due to excessive drinking and cold weather.

What happens in Rome – Italy is the heart of Rome for Christmas celebrations. Celebrations are done here for continuous 8 days.  Carole can be heard in almost each street of Italy for eight days. Bagpipe players make the city look more beautiful. They keep caroling throughout the city. The best part is the Italians try their best not to eat meat during this season. Each day celebrations start at night when people go to mass in nearby churches.  Most of the people even go to Vatican to mass with Pope.  Finally when the Christmas day arrives, people prefer to invite all family and friends for full brunch and dinner. They celebrate with their favorite pasta and sweet Christmas bread.  The celebrations go on till Jan 6.

Bangalore Celebrations – People of Bangalore also celebrate Christmas. We can see streets lightened up. Malls decorated and people roaming in beautiful clothes all around the street. The night of 24th December is celebrations night. As the time reaches 12, people go to mass in churches on MG Road.  Churches to visit :

  • Marks Cathedral
  • Holy Trinity ChurchSt
  • Patrick's Church
  • Andrews Church

All the churches in Bangalore are specially decorated, but the above 4 are the best places. All the rituals are performed. Like birth of Jesus baby and  Caroling goes on till  4 AM.
