Mumbai Police has issued a show-cause notice to Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV. Police have asked Arnab to present himself on Friday. They have also asked why they should not get a bond signed promising of good behavior from the news anchor of Republic TV.

The Mumbai Police has issued this notice to Arnab in connection with two FIRs filed against him some time back. Arnab is accused of showing hate-generating content among communities on his channel. Republic media network has also issued a statement on this notice of Mumbai Police. It said, "The summons and condolence notices issued to Arnab are a sign of openly malicious and motivated action by the Maharashtra government against the independent press."

Typically, CRPC has Section 107 (to ensure peace in other cases) in such a process. However, notice has been sent to Arnab Goswami under section 108, which is imposed to ensure the good behavior of people who disseminate seditious things.

If Arnab Goswami resides in the area where the ACP (Worli Division) Sudhir Jambavadekar. if Jambavadekar is not satisfied with the reasons given by Anchor on his behavior, he may ask Arnab to sign the bond for good behavior. If Arnab broke the bond terms for one year, he could have to go to jail with a fine of Rs 10 lakh.
