Samajwadi and Congress Alliance fails: The much hyped alliance between the Congress and the Samajwadi party failed to take off on Saturday and crash landed when the SP blamed the Congress party by taunting the congress, saying the congress is behaving like it is a major force in the election to UP Election 2017.
The alliance between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party failed over the matter of seat distribution, as the Congress was demanding more seats than the latter for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and were rigid over their demands..
Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was offered 100 seats, but the Congress was not ready to accept less than 120 seats.
As quoted in the media Naresh Agarwal said The Chief Minister offered 100 seats to Congress, but they were not ready for less than 120 seats. He further said, “We told the Congress that we have 234 sitting MLAs and we need to give them tickets as well, and since there are a few others as well, there is no chance of us fighting on less than 300 seats"
Taking a dig at the Congress, Naresh Agarwal further said the party was demanding more seats as if it were "influential" in Uttar Pradesh.
