Ranchi: Naxals carried out a major attack in Jharkhand’s Pakur district on Tuesday when they attacked a police motorcade killing seven cops.
Reports said the Naxals attacked the motorcade of Pakur Superintendent of Police Amarjeet Balihan was on his way back from a meeting when he was ambushed. Six other police officials who were part of the convoy was also killed in the attack, the report stated. “The Naxals triggered the blast, killing 12 policemen and the officer-in-charge of Bhandaria police station RB Choudhary around 11 am," SP Michael S Raj said. "Only after post mortem, we tell whether they were hit by bullets (too)," he said when asked whether the Maoists fired upon the policemen after blowing up their anti-landmine vehicle, about 75 km from Garhwa town. According to Bhandaria police station sources, the Naxals looted weapons from the dead policemen and set fire to the vehicle.
