Kolkata, Kachuberia Ghat: In a yet another unfortunate event, at least six people have died on Sunday after a stampede took place in Gangasagar Mela at Kachuberia Ghat in West Bengal.
Six people have lost their lives and three people have been injured.
Many people who were injured and have been taken to a hospital.
The Ganga Sagar mela is held every year.
While there is no official confirmation on the on the number of death count, the death toll can rise up.
The stampede has happened on jetty number 5 of Kachuberia area while people were getting on the boat as per media.
The state government and South 24-Parganas had taken several security measures to avoid any such incidents it has deployed 9,000 policemen and volunteers to provide assistance to the pilgrims.
165 CCTVs were also installed at several places, drons were kep to have vigil to keep a close watch, officials added.
