Once again, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has got into trouble again due to Irrigation Scam.
Mumbai: Once again, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has got into trouble again due to Irrigation Scam. The Enforcement Directorate has started an investigation into money-laundering by Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation over suspected irregularities in awarding irrigation contracts. Ajit Pawar has also served as the chairman of the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation. In which irrigation projects were approved. He was later accused of irregularities.
Ajit Anantrao Pawar is the current Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He is from the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing Baramati constituency. He is the nephew of Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party.
Earlier the Maharashtra's Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB gave a clean chit to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in December last year 2019, in connection with alleged irregularities related to 12 projects under Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation. Ajit Pawar was then the deputy CM in Chief Minister under Devendra Fadnavis cabinet. Soon after getting a clean chit, he resigned from Fadnavis's cabinet very dramatically.
Now according to the information being received from the sources, the Nagpur unit of ED has started investigating the Goseikurd project in the Bhandara district. Its investigation is based on the cases registered by ACB. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also handled the Water Resources Development Department among key departments during the Congress and NCP coalition in power from 1999-2009.
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said that I welcome 2 ECIR / complaints registered by ED today on Maharashtra Irrigation Scam. I am sure that they will go deep on corrupt practices, money laundering, etc. and also find the real beneficiaries.
