Akhilesh Yadav will not contest 2022 UP assembly elections this time

Lucknow. Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav will not contest the assembly elections this time, Akhilesh Yadav has announced. Akhilesh Yadav has also told that his party i.e. Samajwadi Party and Jayant Chaudhary's Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) have formed an alliance, which will soon announce the sharing of seats together.

Akhilesh Yadav said on Monday that he will not contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections to be held early next year. Akhilesh also said that the alliance between his party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) for the elections has been finalised. The SP chief said, "Our alliance with RLD has been finalised. The seat-sharing is to be finalised."

Akhilesh, the SP MP from Azamgarh and his party's chief ministerial face, said he "will not contest the assembly elections". On the possibility of taking along uncle Shivpal Yadav's Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL) in the elections, Akhilesh said, "I have no problem with it. He and his people will be given due respect."
