India, Rajasthan: There are reports of 77 children dying at a hospital in Kota the month of Dec 2019, Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed Kota district collector and Secretary, Health Education Department to conduct a probe into the matter.

Some people pointed this on the social media, here is what the reply from a noted media person and journalist ย Sumanth Raman in order to defend Congress. ย For him, this is just a mere 80 death. He says, โ€œThe mere fact that 80 children died in one month does not establish negligence. In tertiary care Pediatric centers there is always a significant mortality rate often due to prematurity. The issue is to find out the cause and if there was any deficiency in the care.โ€ ย 

As per the Sample Registration System, the average infant mortality rate is quite high in Rajasthan at 38 deaths per 1000 births.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is an MP from Kota, urged Chief Minister Gehlot to look into the matter. Mr. Birla said that 800 to 900 infants and 200 to 250 kids died every year in "this major hospital" due to a lack of qualified personnel and non-functioning of life-saving equipment.
