Scientists have confirmed that a hole with a circumference of one million square kilometers above the Arctic has closed. Scientists came to know about it at the beginning of April 2020.
These holes were thought to have formed as a result of low temperatures at the North Pole. This layer of ozone protects the Earth from dangerous ultraviolet rays coming from the Sun. These rays are the major cause of skin cancer. If the hole had expanded towards the central and south populated areas of the earth, it would have posed a direct threat to humans.

It is noteworthy that the lockdown implemented in most of the countries of the world to prevent the COVID-19 spread has not affected it. Rather, polarity is the main reason behind its recovery, which brings cold air to the Polar Regions. Copernicus says that this year's Polar Vortex was quite powerful.
A polar vortex is a low-pressure area—a wide expanse of swirling cold air—that is parked in polar regions. During winter, the polar vortex at the North Pole expands, sending cold air southward. This happens fairly regularly and is often associated with outbreaks of cold temperatures in the United States.
The Vortex resulted in stratospheric clouds that reacted with CFC gases and destroyed the ozone layer. Explain that the 1987 Montreal Protocol was banned by ISANS in the use of CFC gases.
The polar vortex is responsible for a number of deaths, disruptions to services, and energy outages in the affected areas.
