Lynching incident in Jharkhand's Simdega: Sanju Pradhan was first thrashed by a frenzied mob, then burnt alive

Jharkhand Mob Lynching: A painful incident of mob lynching took place on Tuesday in tribal-dominated Besrajara village under Kolebira police station of Simdega district. Here a mob of agitated villagers thrashed a young man badly and burnt him alive. The name of the killed youth is Sanju Pradhan, he was a resident of this area. The villagers who carried out the incident were so angry that they did not even allow the police to enter the village for almost an hour. Later, when the force arrived from three-four police station areas, the police could reach the spot.

Kolebira police station in charge said that this incident has been carried out on behalf of the agitated mob. What are the reasons behind the incident, it is being investigated.

Angry over cutting of trees 

As per local sources that villagers were angered by Sanju Pradhan name of man due to the felling of trees in the forest. He was forbidden many times to cut trees. It is being told that a complaint was also made to the Forest Department about him. On Tuesday afternoon, some villagers caught hold of Sanju Pradhan and started beating him, after which a large number of people gathered on the spot. After beating badly, some people caught Sanju and set him on fire in his clothes.

The police were not allowed to enter the village,

as soon as the news of the incident was received, the police left for the spot, but the villagers armed with sticks did not allow the police to enter the village. Later additional forces were sent from three or four nearby police stations, then the villagers withdrew. Force has been sent from the headquarters in the village on the orders of the SP of Simdega district. The atmosphere in the entire area remains tense. Police say that after investigating the matter, FIR will be registered.

Anti mob lynching bill passed in the state

In December last year 2021, the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly has passed the Anti Mob Lynching Bill in the state, in which there is a provision for life imprisonment for the culprits if the charge of carrying out such an incident is proved. Jharkhand has been in discussion in the past regarding incidents of mob lynching.
