Mother Teresa charity accounts not frozen claims the NGO and MHA

New Delhi, December 27: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had targeted the Central Government, expressing surprise over the sealing of all bank accounts of Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, after which now the statement of Missionaries of Charity has come to the fore. He informed that the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration of Missionaries of Charity (MoC) has neither been suspended nor cancelled. Along with this, he told that no order has been given by the Ministry of Home Affairs to stop any of our bank accounts.

In fact, on Monday, Mamata Banerjee had tweeted and claimed that on Christmas, shocked to hear that the Union Ministry froze all bank accounts of Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity! 22,000 patients and staff have been left without food and medicines. While the law is paramount, humanitarian efforts should not be compromised.

Missionaries of Charity fact check

On the other hand, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, while clarifying on this, has clearly said that no bank account of any kind has been sealed by the central government. Here, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in its official statement that the ministry did not freeze any account of the Missionaries of Charity (MoC). State Bank of India has informed that the Missionaries of Charity have themselves sent a request to SBI to freeze their accounts.

BJP attacked Mamta Banerjee

Now BJP has become an attacker on Mamta Banerjee in this whole matter. BJP MP from Bishnupur in Bengal Soumitra Khan targeted CM Banerjee saying that Mamata Banerjee does not have any information, she should see how West Bengal has deteriorated under her rule. The claim of freezing his account is completely false. She only plays. On the other hand, the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari said that the Chief Minister should apologise. He put so much wrong news with his Twitter handle. The Home Ministry has given a complete explanation. This is bad politics.

Let us tell you that Mother Teresa, who founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950 and worked for India's poorest people for decades, was given the status of a saint by Pope Francis in 2016. Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic nun who lived and worked in Kolkata for most of her life. He has also received the Nobel Peace Prize.
