Teachers Protest agitation Delhi government for equal pay

New Delhi: Thousands of guest teachers of the All India Teachers Association intensified their agitation against the Delhi government on Saturday. The teacher’s surrounded the house of Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia, demanding equal work-equal pay and making all guest teachers working in Delhi government schools permanently. Although Delhi Congress also supported this gherao and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Anil Kumar also came to participate, while hundreds of vocational teachers were also present in this protest.

On this occasion, Anil Kumar assured the teachers union, "The Congress party is standing with them in their fight for equal pay and permanent for guest teachers in Delhi and at every level, we are raising voice for the rights of thousands of guest teachers. Huh."

"As a result of the support of the guest teachers of the Delhi Congress, the Chief Minister Arvind and the Deputy Chief Minister announced an increase in the salary of guest teachers."

He further said, "Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal is giving misleading statements in Punjab. Why doesn't Kejriwal take initiative in regularizing the guest teachers of Delhi, as promised, which can prove to be an example for him in Punjab."

According to the Delhi Congress, in the last 7 years in 3 election manifestos, the Kejriwal government had given assurance regarding making guest teachers permanent 12 times, but the result is still to make guest teachers permanent and the Supreme Court orders equal work-equal pay.
