Mamata Banerjee has reached Goa at a time when assembly elections are due here after a few months. Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, who reached Goa, said that fish and football are the two things that connect Bengal and Goa. She said that she would not allow the 'dadagiri' of the Center to run in the state. However, the West Bengal Chief Minister said that neither she came to gain power in the state nor to become the Chief Minister of Goa.
On the second day of her visit, Mamata addressed an election rally in Panaji, the capital of Goa. Here she told the party leaders, "I believe in secularism, I believe in unity, I believe that India is our motherland. If Bengal is my motherland, then Goa is also my motherland. I am just like your sister; I have not come here to grab power."
Welcoming tennis star to her party Banerjee said Paes was like her younger brother. “I know him since I was the youth and sports minister of this country… I am too happy,” Paes thanked the Bengal CM and fondly remembered memories about how Banerjee was “encouraging and supportive” when she was the sports minister.
Mamata Banerjee reached Goa on Thursday (28 October). On reaching Dabolim airport, she was greeted with a black flag and the slogan 'Jai Shri Ram. Some people also raised slogans of 'Mamata Banerjee go back'. However, the police removed them from there. Let us tell you that before his tour, the poster of 'Jai Shri Ram' was seen at many places in Goa. BJP had denied its involvement in putting up this poster.
