Will Bhawanipur be place of next post poll violence if Mamta loses from here

West Bengal: Seeing the recent pre-post poll violence in West Bengal earlier,  tight security arrangements have been made in West Bengal by-election for today’s (30 September) by-elections are to be held in three assembly seats of West Bengal. In these, everyone's eyes are on the high profile seat Bhawanipur as from this seat, The Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamta Banerjee are in the electoral fray. If she loses this seat, she will have to leave the Chief Ministerial post currently being held by her. In the assembly elections, Shubhendu Adhikari had defeated Mamta Banerjee from the Nandigram seat.

In view of the voting in the Bhawanipur seat alone, 15 companies of central forces have been deployed. Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) have been imposed within 200 meters of the polling stations where polling will be held on Thursday. The security outside the booth will be in the hands of Kolkata Police officials. In an order, Kolkata Police said, five or more people will not be allowed to gather within a radius of 200 meters of any polling station. There is a ban on bringing stones, weapons, firecrackers or other explosive material. 

The Trinamool Congress has fielded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while the BJP has fielded Priyanka Tibrewal and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Shreejiv Biswas, in the by-elections for Bhawanipur seat in south Kolkata.

Winning this election is very important for Mamta Banerjee to remain on the post of CM. This is the reason why the election on this seat has attracted everyone's attention.

Central force personnel will be deployed at 97 polling stations in Bhawanipur. The security outside the booth will be in the hands of Kolkata Police officials.

In an order, Kolkata Police said, "Gathering of five or more people will not be allowed within a radius of 200 meters of any polling station."

There is a ban on bringing stones, weapons, firecrackers or other explosive material. Police outposts have been set up at 38 places in Bhawanipur.

A large number of security personnel will be deployed on the day of polling. Apart from one additional commissioner of police, four joint commissioners of police, 14 deputy commissioners and as many assistant commissioners have been posted for the Bhawanipur by-election.

Special arrangements made with the rain the past two days in various parts of West Bengal, heavy rains have raised a difficulty. This is the reason why special arrangements have been made due to the rains in the by-elections.

Due to this, three additional control rooms have also been opened. Arrangements have been made for 141 special vehicles to transport EVMs.

All policemen have been asked to wear raincoats and carry umbrellas due to intermittent rain in the city.

The Election Commission has also asked the Irrigation Department to be alert in view of the weather here, the official said. "All polling stations have been asked to keep pumps ready to drain the floodwaters," he said. Tight security arrangements have also been made in Jangipur and Shamsherganj, an election official said. Assembly elections are also to be held on these seats on Thursday. The counting of votes will be done on October 3.
