The Dera Chief is accused of raping a former female follower. The sadhvi wrote an anonymous letter to the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee accusingRam Rahim of raping her more than once inside the Dera campus on the outskirts of Sirsa town in Haryana.

The above letter was keyed in Hindi, the unnamed letter claimed that Gurmeet Ram Rahim raped and sexually exploited women followers at the Dera. The litigant alleged that she was a ex-student from Punjab and had been influenced by her parents to become a sadhvi at the Dera Sacha Sauda and converted a follower of Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

The woman alleged that two years after linking the Dera as sadhvi, she was sent to Ram Rahim's 'gufa'- home of the Dera chief. Within the gufa, the woman found Ram Rahim viewing TV with a gun by his adjacent.

Ram Rahim, the woman appealed, raped her and gave her warning that will be serious consequences if she spoke about it anyplace. The woman purported that Ram Rahim raped her frequently during her stay at Dera.

The appellant claimed that there were many other girls who had met the same destiny. Ram Rahim, she said in the letter, appealed that no power could take action against him and he above law.

Devastated from within, the sadhvi forwarded a letter narrating her suffering and pursued involvement of the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She also addressed her letter to the Punjab and Haryana chief ministers, the Union Home Ministry, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

No one responded to her letter, other than the Haryana High Court. Which wanted to understand the real cause of the letter and wanted a report from the District and Sessions Judge of Sirsa. District judge MS Sular directed an inquiry and submitted his report mentioning probe by a central agency.

After receiving the report from Sirsa, the Punjab and Haryana High Court mentioned the matter to the CBI for probe into the claims razed in the letter. The Chandigarh branch of CBI recorded a case of rape under IPC Section 376, criminal intimidation under Section 506 and insult to the modesty of woman under 509.

And finally after the verdict Dera Chief was ordered 20 years of Jail.
