Reverse PIN Panic Code
Entering your PIN in reverse at any ATM will not automatically send an alarm to local police -- the idea is nothing more than an old and unimplemented suggestion.

If a theif forces you to take money out of an ATM, do not argue or resist. What you do is punch in your pin# backwards. EX:if its 1234, you ‘;; type 4321. When you do that, the money will come out but will be stuck in the sot. The machine will immediately alert the local police without the robbers knowledge & begin taking photos of the suspect. Every ATM has the feature. Stay safe

Viral Message Verification – You won’t believe this is the oldest hoax I have been hearing. At least for the last 8 years as of now. Well this is the biggest myth that people believe that reversing your PIN at ATM in time of distress will alert the police and police will be there within a short span of time to rescue.

For example if your ATM PIN number is 4321 and there is some theft or robbery or any other bsurd condition and you need the police or security, than while entering the PIN in the ATM, just reverse the PIN, IE 1234 and police and security will be alerted. Well this is all HOAX and there is not a single bit of truth in the viral message notification on the social media.

As per our findings emergency PIN findings has never been deployed at any ATM Machines, across any part of the world.

The message started since 2006, after the technology of reverse PIN security was patented by Chicago businessman Joseph Zingher in 1998. However the idea being generalized by Zingher never came into reality.

Hard Fact

(1) This reverse technology may not deter any type of ATM crime, and in some instances may actually increase the risk of danger to ATM customers

(2) might entail banks incurring non-trivial costs for their deployment;

(3) Could result in at least some false activations that might lead to the inefficient allocation of police resources.”

So how you can protect yourself in case of Any theft at ATM

Well we can only give you some suggestions; you have to use your own logic to avoid yourself from any such things using your own logic.

  1. Day time: try visiting a ATM when there are many people around the corner, Day can be the best time, but make sure people are there near bye when you go inside the ATM.
  2. Vigilant: Always be vigilant on your surrounding when you are walking to a ATM. Make sure no one is following you or keeping an EYE on you when you are about to step in a ATM.
  3. Security: Make sure you know the security conditions of the ATM you are visiting. A security camera, guard at the ATM is a good sign to trust and visit any ATM.
  4. Safe Location; Try withdrawing money from the ATM’s which are quite familiar to you. Like at your office, at a busy shopping mall and any there place where you can trust upon.
  5. Argument: Never fall into argument if you are ever caught up and the other is carrying any weapon. No amount can bring your life back, so be careful when you are dealing any adverse condition.
  6. Bank communication: immediately after the incident communicate with your Bank, specify the bank regarding your ATM problem and if possible lodge police complaint.
  7. Withdrawal limit: the best thing you can do is set a limit on your transaction; this will surely help you somewhat at the time of distress and keep you safe even.
