If true, this pisses me off to no end. Who do you think you are to judge what poor people eat or drink? Because these are food items. You already don't want their employers to be forced to pay them enough to buy their own food, and now you're saying they HAVE to eat better than your own choices?
So, no more candy as a reward for going in the potty, even though that was working. No more birthday cake. No more "bring a drink of your choice to class on friday" because no other student brings water so they'd rather go without than show they're too poor to buy a Mt. Dew. Because Middle Class Ninny thinks you're the problem. Yes, you who work twice as hard doing crappier jobs that never get to see your kids. You who need the caffeine to stay awake for your second job of the day. You who can't afford to reward your children with anything but candy because every dime is spent surviving the financial emergency that is your life. Now I guess your children will just have to learn to stay in their place like you.
I can think of another group that never had their own money to decide what to do with, that their labor went to their housing & never got to choose what they ate. The group that decided I believe were called plantation owners.
