Detailed Analysis: Chief Minister mamata banerjee gave a message on Friday to stop the panic. Kolkata police on Saturday tweeted that they did not give ear to the rumors. It said on a tweet “Do not believe in rumours. No truth in them. Those spreading #FakeNews rumours on FB/Twitter/Whatsapp to stir up tension over food in restaurants in #Kolkata will be dealt with firmly. High level committee appointed by State Govt examining matter. Stop rumours. Thank you”

The State Government has constituted a High Level Committee to investigate this matter already. ' In fact, in an interview on Friday, the Chief Minister said, "People in this regard must also be cautious.  

In the last few weeks, allegations are being circulated in social media about various restaurants in North and South Kolkata over selling of rotten meat. Amjad Ali, owner of a Park Circus restaurant, said, "We are being harmed by propaganda in a planned manner. The sale has decreased a lot. We want to investigate. Reveal the names of the police who know who sells bad meat. Why the rest will accept the loss! "
