Many of us might have seen this message, while many might have ignored this message, but many would have fallen to this message thinking it to be correct.

Instagram hoax is just in variation to the facebook post-viral since long.

Ir is said that many celebrities have fallen prey to this circulating message over the years. Celebrities like Judd Apatow, Beyonce’s mother re-posted iterations of the text to Instagram this week, which led to people becoming more curious about this message.

The message originated all the way back in the year 2012 when some decided that they’d create a text copy-paste meme suggesting Facebook’s new IPO would change the way your media was shared.

What is UCC 1-308-11308-103

UCC 1-308 states that “A party that with explicit reservation of rights performs or promises performance or assents to performance in a manner demanded or offered by the other party does not thereby prejudice the rights reserved.

This basically means that a person’s rights cannot be removed just because they’re performing for another person. In this case, sharing content on a social network shouldn’t mean your privacy can be violated any more than it can be in any other environment.

What is Rome Statute?

The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (often referred to as the International Criminal Court Statute or the Rome Statute) is the treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC). It was adopted at a diplomatic conference in Rome, Italy on 17 July 1998 and it entered into force on 1 July 2002. As of March 2019, 122 states are a party to the statute. Among other things, the statute establishes the court's functions, jurisdiction, and structure.

What does Instagram say

Instagram states on its website that “nothing is changing” about users’ content rights.

The social media site does not own content you post, it explains, but it has royalty-free license to “host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content,” depending on your privacy settings. That license ends when you delete your uploads or your account.

  • We do not claim ownership of your content, but you grant us a license to use it.
Nothing is changing about your rights in your content. We do not claim ownership of your content that you post on or through the Service. Instead, when you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights (like photos or videos) on or in connection with our Service, you hereby grant to us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content (consistent with your privacy and application settings). As with actions on other content and follows of other accounts, actions on sponsored content and follows of sponsored accounts can be seen only by people who have permission to see that content or follow. We will also respect your ad settings..

How did it start: It started in 2012 when Instagram was acquired by Facebook, some terms on the clause: "transferable," and "sub-licensable." Caused all the hue and cry. The concern was that this gave the company facebook, rights sell user photos as if they were stock images, which wasn't technically the case and it certainly hasn't panned out that way.

If we look into the privacy policy of Instagram sharing any private messages, pictures, the company says it can share your content, “consistent with your privacy and application settings,” it means it will keep private things private, at least to the best of its ability.

If you are still afraid of your privacy policy is breached or your photos or images used by someone, you can submit your data at Copyright.gov.
