Federer wins his 900th Match at French Open

Paris, France - French Open: 31 years of Roger Federer joined the list of top players to win over 900 matches in tennis. This was his 1104th match. He defeated Gilles Simon by 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. The match lasted for 2 hours 59 minutes.

This was 36th time Federer reached the quarter finals of a grand slam. With this milestone, he is among the greats of 1) Jimmy Connors - 1243 wins and 277 losses 2) Ivan Lendi - 1071 wins and 239 losses 3) Guillermo Vilas - 924 wins and 286 losses 4) Roger Federer - 900 wins and 204 losses Indeed its a great milestone.After the end of the match Federer said that "When you win you can enjoy it more, because it can be a very, very frustrating game, as well.At the end, let's not forget only one guy ever wins the tournament.

All the other guys go home with nothing. So it can be tough depending on how you see it.That's where these wins have definitely helped me continue working hard, be motivated, loving it so much and being part of great matches. And that I came out so often on the winning side is obviously amazing for me."
