Viral Video – Bumrah-Shami show at Lord’s: ‘A partnership to remember for ages’

London: Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian cricketers known for their bowling, provided great joy to their teammates and fans as they defied the England bowling attack with a memorable batting partnership at Lord’s on Monday (August 16).

On the fifth and final day of the second Test between England and India, Shami and Bumrah associated for 77 runs till the lunch interval. And when they returned to the dressing room, they received a standing ovation from their teammates and the support staff.

Bumrah joined Shami with India at 209/8 in 89.3 overs. Many thought India would be bowled out soon with England bowlers armed with the second new ball. Earlier, with the same new cherry they had sent back Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma. But Bumrah and Shami turned the match and took India’s lead past the 250-run mark.

Shami (52 not out) scored his second fifty of his Test career while Bumrah was 30 not out at the lunch interval. And India was 286/8 in 108 overs.

On its official Twitter page, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a 42-second clip of Indian players applauding Shami and Bumrah as they returned to the pavilion during the lunch break.

The BCCI captioned the post, “A partnership to remember for ages for @Jaspritbumrah93 & @MdShami11 on the field and a rousing welcome back to the dressing room from #TeamIndia. What a moment this at Lord's #ENGvIND (sic).”

In the post lunch session, India declared at 298/8 declared in 109.3 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli set England a target of 272 to win the Test in a minimum of 60 overs. Shami was unbeaten on his Test career-best of 56 not out (70 balls, 6x4, 1x6) and Bumrah with his Test best of 34 not out (63 balls, 3x4). The duo put on 89 runs, the highest-ever for the ninth wicket for India in England.
