Normally laptops when initially bought runs for a longer time without power connection, however during time and usage of the laptop the battery time keeps on reducing, reducing the laptop time without power connection.

There are several ways in which we can increase the laptop usage on battery connection

Rule1: Disable application

While using a laptop on battery mode one can disable the WIFI, Bluetooth, running songs etc. this will significantly increase the battery time and you can run the laptop for longer period of time.

Rule2: Mode

Using windows power saver mode, as shown in the image.

Rule3: Running applications

Many a times there are background applications running even without our knowledge. We can disable this in windows 10, from getting started automatically when the computer starts.

To do this we can go to the windows task manager >> startup.

From here you can decide which all the programs you want to be started at the time when the computer is starting.

Rule4: Clean battery

Clean your battery's metal contacts every couple of months with a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. This keeps the transfer of power from your battery more efficient.

Rule5: Lower brightness:

All laptops come with the option to lower brightness. Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance.

Rule6: Browser

Closing the Firefox, IE and other browser multiple tabs

Opening multiple tabs of the browser also increases the usage of the computer/laptop. When not using this usage it can be better closed, for better utilization of the computer.

Rule7: external devices

Avoid usage of external devices when the laptop/desktop is running from battery. Try not using USB devices, speakers, mobile, printers, scanners or any other external devices. Either remove or shit down this devices.

Rule 12: Multitask

Do one thing at a time when you're on battery, rather than working on a spreadsheet, letting your email client run in the background, and listening to music at the same time, which puts unnecessary overhead on your computer's CPU

Avoid autosave functions from word, excel or any other application. Microsoft Word and Excel autosave functions are great, but because they keep saving at regular intervals, which work your hard drive harder than it may have to.
