This devastating war started in 2014

The war in Yemen began in 2014 when Iran-backed Houthi rebels occupied Sanaa and much of the country's northern part. However, the intervention of the Saudi-led coalition prevented them from moving further south in 2015. Yemen's civil war has killed nearly 130,000 people and triggered the world's worst humanitarian disaster. The victims of this attack include a large number of women, the elderly and children.

Since the war began, the Houthis have repeatedly staged drone attacks and fired missiles across the border at airports, oil facilities and other installations in Saudi Arabia.
