New Delhi, Dec 31: The New Year celebrations of 2017 turned into a nightmare when an anonymous man dressed as Santa Claus opened fire at a Reina nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey claiming the lives of 39 people and wounding more than 40. Among this people who died are 16 foreign nationals.

Gov. Vasip Sahin stated the attacker, armed with a long-barreled weapon, killed a policeman and a civilian outdoor the club just before than coming into the club and firing on people partying around. The attacker fired bullets in very cruel and merciless way killing the New Year party places.

The Gunman was dressed in a Santa Claus costume. There were more than 500 people inside the club at the time. Some customers jumped into the waters of the Bosporus to escape the attack, the report said..

Scene Footage showed at least six ambulances with flashing lights and civilians being escorted out.

The police had cordoned off the area, and in-between an operation to capture the assailant was ongoing.

Suleyman Soylu said, the police were still hunting for the "terrorist" who attacked the Reina nightclub at about 01:30 local time and no terrorist were caught even after 4 hours

As per the reports "A terrorist with a long-range weapon ... brutally and savagely carried out this incident by firing bullets on innocent people who were there solely to celebrate the New Year and have fun,"
