The government said that vehicle documents including driving license and e-challan will be maintained from 1 October 2020 through information technology or online portal. A hard copy of any of the documents will not be necessary.

The government statement said that during an inspection of vehicle documents, physical documents would not be demanded in lieu of documents of vehicles found to be valid through electronic means. That is, now every document will already be available with the traffic authorities on their fingertips. You will also need not to keep a hard copy of a driving license and other documents.

According to experts, all the information related to your driving license will be available with the traffic authorities. Also, the government said that the details of driving license disqualified or revoked by the licensing authority will be recorded in the portal and it will also be updated from time to time.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement that it has issued a notification regarding various amendments made in the Motor Vehicles Rules 1989. In this, vehicle-related documents and e-challans will be maintained through the portal from October 1, 2020, for better monitoring and implementation of motor vehicle regulations.

Fines of up to 5 thousand will be put if caught talking on mobile while driving: The new rules also allow the usage of mobile phone in hand while driving, however, it should be used only for route navigation in such a way that the driver does not get distracted while driving. However, a fine of 1 to 5 thousand rupees can be imposed for talking to mobile while driving.

It will be easy to get a driving license: Under the new rules, you will not need many documents to get a driving license now. The central government has eased rules to get DL created. According to the new notification, now the Aadhaar card will be used to create an online driving license, renew the license, register the vehicle, and change the address in the documents related to it.
