On 13Th December 2001, an incidence occurred which moved whole nation. As the per the records, 5 trespassers carrying gun entered the Parliament house. They entered in the car which had parliament levels on it. Many of the senior members of the Government and opposition were present in the both Rajya sabha and Lok Sabha. The gunmen got out of the car and started firing with their weapons. The brave security personals at the Parliament house averted the occurrence of any severe casualty to any of the members of the Parliament. They fought bravely. In the response four gunmens were killed. Five policemen lost their life including a gardener. None of the ministers were hurt.

In response to the attack the Indian government accused Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) to be involved in the attack. Later in December 2002, four JeM members were caught by Indian authorities. Among them Afzal Guru was found guilty of the incidence and was sentenced to the death.

BJP responded that the justice has been delayed and this should have been done a long time back. Arun Jaitley said that “Finally law took its own course. Public opinion compelled the government to act and enforce the law”. He also said that “India must today, as it did Dec 13, 2001, speak in one voice and give a clear message to the world that India is not a soft state and those who attack India, its sovereignty and its institutions, will be held accountable. Though belated, justice has been done,”
