New Delhi:  The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday won in 4 out of 10 Assembly constituencies across eight states where by-elections were held on Sunday. The BJP is leading in six. The Congress is leading in both Nanjangud and Gundlupet, seats it held whereas in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, where fresh elections were ordered in 38 polling booths after violence on Sunday, 7 per cent voters had turned up in the first two hours of voting.

  With this trend it is a clear  indication for a big win for the BJP party and a huge loss for the ruling AAP, The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia said, "need to revisit people connect."  West Delhi's Rajouri Garden seat fell vacant starting this year after AAP party's Jarnail Singh quit as legislator to contest Punjab Assembly polls.

  Ajay Maken, the Delhi chief said, the by-polls will be a "referendum" of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's work in the last two years. He had earlier swept the Delhi elections in 2015, winning 67 of the 70 seats.

  The results will not affect the stability of the Congress government, but this elections is just for the Congress and the BJP to assess their voter-base for the assembly elections of 2018.

  Nanjangud is in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's home district of Mysuru and it is crucial for him to retain the seat. His close aide-turned-rival V Srinivas Prasad, who held the seat earlier, joined the BJP after he was dropped as minister and is now contesting as the BJP candidate. The Congress' Kalale Keshavamurthy is leading in the seat.

  Continuing its winning streak, BJP's Ranoj Pegu beat his nearest rival Babul Sonowal of the Congress by over 9,000 votes to win Dhemaji by-poll assembly seat in Assam.

The Assembly constituencies where by-polls were held on Sunday are Rajouri Garden in Delhi, Littipara in Jharkhand, Dholpur in Rajasthan, Kanthi Dakshin in West Bengal, Nanjangud and Gundlupet in Karnataka, Bhoranj in Himachal Pradesh and Dhemaji in Assam, Ater and Bandhavgarh in Madhya Pradesh.

Delhi, Rajouri Garden By-election polls: BJP's Manjinder Singh Sirsa get 40,602 votes defeats Congress' Meenakshi Chandela (25,950 votes) . AAP's Harjeet Singh was in third place getting only 10,243 votes after 17 rounds of counting

Assam, Dhemaji By-election -polls: BJP's Ranoj Pegu won 75,217 votes, while Congress's Babul Sonowal trailed with 65,932 votes after 13 rounds of counting

Himachal Pradesh, Bhoranj By-election -polls: Dr Anil Dhiman (BJP) registers thumping victory with a margin of 8,290 votes over Congress' Parmila Devi after 13 rounds of counting

Rajasthan, Dholpur By-election -polls: BJP's Shobha Rani Kushavah – 33,385 votes, Congress' Banwari Lal Sharma – 17,332 votes

West Bengal, Kanthi Dakshin By-election -polls: TMC's Chandrima Bhattacharya – 80,988 votes, Sourindra Mohan Jana of BJP – 41,348 votes
