New Delhi: The central government has come up with amendment in the rule that the central government employees who have been caught in corruption, their cases will be decided in six months. The verdict in the case of corruption will be decided in just six months against the government employees stranded. The Central Government today made this decision while making changes in the 50-year-old law. This decision of the government will accelerate the investigation of corruption of pending cases.

According to the notification issued by the Union Ministry of Personnel and Training, the investigation agency will have to submit the inquiry report within six months. If more than six month time is taken than the investigation authority will give a reasonable reason in writing.

Currently there is no time limit for this kind of investigation so far. The new rule will be applicable to all categories of employees, including IAS, IPS. According to Anti Corruption Watchdog, the six-month period will start after the appointment of an inquiry officer.

As per the new rules, the investigation authority will have to submit a list of allegations, copy of the charges of misbehavior, along with the list of witnesses on which the allegations are filed against the government employee accused of corruption.

The central government has taken a big decision to reduce corruption in government departments. The government has amended the 50-year-old law and fixed the deadline for completing the investigation into cases of corruption against government employees in six months. This decision has been taken to accelerate the investigation of such cases. Most of these cases have been pending for a long time and years.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has amended the Central Public Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965 and has taken a decision on the timing of important steps for investigation and investigation procedures. The revised rules say that the investigation authority should complete its investigation within 6 months and submit its report.

It said that although the probation expansion can be given for a maximum of 6 months after being given a sufficient reason in writing by the disciplinary authority. Earlier there was no time limit for completing the investigation. The new rule will be applicable to all categories of employees excluding the officers of All India Services (Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Army) and some other categories.

Significantly, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had recently asked all the public sector banks, insurance companies and various departments of the central government to accelerate the investigation of pending cases of corruption. The anti-corruption body wrote to the Chief Vigilance Officers of all departments and said that they also accelerate the investigation reports on the complaints. The CVC sends complaints regarding corruption in government organizations to the concerned CVO for investigation and reports.

It is worth mentioning that in 2016, corruption complaints against various government departments increased by 67 percent and Railways was at the top of the list. According to a report presented in Parliament, the body got 49,847 complaints in 2016, 67 percent more than the 29,838 complaints received in 2015.
