New Delhi, April 21: Former Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP)  MP Ram Vilas Vedanti said on Friday that it was he who incited the mob to demolish the Babri Masjid and not L.K Advani  in 1992.

Ram Vilas Vedanti told the media, "L K Advani had no role in this incident,I brought it down and ensured that it went down," he added.

Ram Vilas Vedanti is one of the 13 people, leaders, who are accused of conspiring Babri Masjid demolition by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Ram Vilas Vedanti said that when the mosque was being attacked by a mob, he and late Ashok Singhal and Mahant Avaidyanth exhorted the VHP activists to ensure that it was brought down brick by brick."

Vedanti said it was important to demolish the mosque to the ground quickly so that a makeshift Ram temple could be raised on it’s remain. "It was I who said 'Ek dhakka aur do, Babri Masjid tod do'."

He claimed that LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Vijayraje Scindia were trying to calm the 'kar sevaks'.

He claimed that Advani expressed deep regret at Babri mosque demolition and even called it the saddest day of his life. He also demanded that the 67.77 acres acquired land around the disputed site be handed over to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyaas.

The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday directed the special court in UP, Lucknow to proceed with the trial against BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, L.K Advani, Union Minister Uma Bharati and BJP MP Vinay Katiyar among others.
