NEW DELHI : The Jammu and Kashmir police has asked the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to claim the body of Lashkar-e-Taiba (L-eT) terrorist Abu Dujana who was killed by the security forces in an encounter on Tuesday.

For the first time in the past 27 years, J&K police have approached the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi and said, take body of your national for his burial at his native place. He also added that if the Pakistan High Commission refuses to claim his body, the state authorities will give him a proper burial. 

The Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Dujana was a Pakistani national. yesterday, Dujana and his associate Arif Nabi Dar alias Arif Lelhari were killed in a gunfight at Hakdipora village in Pulwama district.Security forces hunted him down, working on inputs of these visits, intelligence officials said.

The Police force had been collecting information in the past few months that Dujana has been visiting a specific village quite regularly.Upon investigation, it was found that the Pakistani terrorist was visiting the house of a man named Khurshid, whose daughter was married to Dujana, Soon, and found that 28-year-old Dujana, also involved with another girl.

Dujana was very active From the last few months, on the Pulwama-Pompore and his visits to the two families have increased, another official said.

On the basis of information that Dujana would visit Khurshid's home in the Pulwama district yesterday, a joint operation was carried out by Army, CRPF and police in the early hours, leading to his killing.
