Lalu Prasad Yadav to be awarded with JP Senani Samman Pension – Rs 10000

Patna, Lalu Yadav – Lalu was around 26 years old when he was sent jail for participating in movement (“Sampoorna Kranti ”) initiated by Jay Prakash Narayan in 1974.  He was in jail for more than 6 months. And due to this he is eligible for this pension scheme.

In 2009, Nitish Kumar (being Chief Minister of Bihar) brought JP Senani Samman Pension in memory of Jayprakash Narayan.

Under this scheme, people who have spent less than six months during the JP movement will be given pension of 5,000 per month and people who have spent more than 6 months will be given 10,000 per month as pension.

There were many popular leader who were jailed under the MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act). Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi were also sent to jail during that period. Though, CM Nitish Kumar is eligible for this pension scheme, but he has refused to take it. 3,100 people are getting pension under this scheme.

About JP – Jayprakash Narayan was popularly known as JP and Lok nayak. He was born on 11th Oct 1902 in Sitabdiara, Bihar. His movement Sampoorna Kranti (total revolution) was his agitation against Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
