My dear countryman! Namaskar!

Last month we celebrated Diwali with fervor, This year too I celebrated Diwali with Soldiers

Celebrated Diwali with Jawans of the ITBP and Army at china border.

This year’s Diwali was unique

On soldiers

1.25 billion Indians dedicated Diwali to our soldiers, Wishes of countrymen were seen reflected on the happy faces of jawans. The emotion filled wishes of countrymen to soldiers was amazing and the soldiers were overwhelmed by the wishes. People use different means to extend their wishes. They sent Poems , cartoons and even video messages. Then came the idea of bringing out coffee table book.

One soldier wrote to me, we celebrate our festivals at the border away from family, we often miss our family on festivals. And indeed he did not miss family this Diwali, felt as if 1.25 Billion Indians are celebrating Diwali with him.

My Dear friends, should we limit this emotions certain occasions, alone? As nation stands with its soldiers their morale is boosted 1.2.billion times.

Soldiers must be remembered on every happy occasion

On Jammu and Kashmir

I recently met village pradhans from J&K; they discussed development issues of villages, They also discussed prevailing law and order situation.

The issue of burning of schools also came up, the pradhans were as pained as rest of the countrymen. They felt that not schools but future of the children had gone up in flames. I had requested them to focus on building future of children, I am happy that the Pradhans stood by their promise. They made people in their villages aware of the situation.

Recent Board Exams saw 95% attendance in Kashmir.  This huge attendance shows positive mindset of youth. Youth of J&K aspires to rise in life through education. I commend them for their enthusiasm, I also commend their parents and teachers, I also extend my thanks to the village pradhans.

On demonetisation

When I sought response from people for Mann Ki Baat, overwhelming demand was to speak on demonetization. I had discussed the issue in my address n November 8. This is the start of a mega campaign to reform India. On day one I cautioned that there will be inconveniences. I had this idea that we will face new problems. It will take about 50 days for the situation to normalize. It is not easy to get rid of the 70 years old disease. I understand your problems very well, but your unstinted support despite severe problems has touched me. You have not wavered despite efforts by some to misguide you. You have stood by the decision in national interest. Entire world is minutely observing us, Every economist is analyzing the move. They are curious to know how we emerge from this situation. World may have doubts but India is confident. Just like gold we will emerge glowing from this fire. The main reason behind this confidence is our people.

Centre, states, banks, post offices are working overtime. Lakhs of bank, post office employees are working day and night. They are working under tremendous stress. They are working with a mission to transform India. This spirit of people makes me confident that we will win. Bank and post office employees are eager to help.

There is a glowing example from Khadwa in MP. A bank employee himself took cash to an elderly person, when he met with accident and needed money .There is numerous such examples.

I thank everyone involved in this pious mission. Bank employees showed similar spirit while implementing Jan Dhan Yojana. They accomplished the job which was unfinished for past 70 years. Once again they face similar challenge. I am confident resolve of 1.25 billion people and Bank will bear fruit.

On benami transaction

India shall emerge as a new power; corrupt people are still trying to find a way out. They are trying hard to bring black money into system. Corrupt are trying t make poor as tool to park black money. They are trying to lure the poor, they are trying to put black money in their accounts. I want to caution these people, Please do not play with the lives of the poor. Do not put names of poor in record to hide black money. We have made a tough anti-benami transaction law.

Those found guilty will be severely punished.

from Harda, M P, Congratulated me.

There could be nothing better than this for Indians.

There is a resturent on NH-6 in Akolsa, Maharastra. The restaurant put up a board saying don’t worry if you have no money/old notes. It allowed people to have food and pay later. This is the strength of selfless service of our countrymen.

"There has been 300% increase in the use of Rupay card since poor people started using it, it is as simple as sending a WhatsApp. I want to urge men and women in small businesses that the time is right, you too enter the digital world. Common man will be trouble free if they are made aware of the digital financial transaction options, youths can do this quickly" .
