New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance government introduced the deregulation of petrol and diesel in 2014 and like it happens in most international markets where petrol and diesel prices changes every day based on the international price, petrol and diesel price in India is all set to change daily.

 

Starting from tomorrow diesel prices will be revised on a daily basis in select towns to sync with international rates, much like it happens in most advanced markets.  Starting Monday the five places — Visakhapatnam, Puducherry, Udaipur, Jamshedpur and Chandigarh. The project is initially launched as a pilot project which will see petrol and diesel being sold under a daily price change regime. 

As per the Indian Oil Corporation executive petrol prices would change from midnight starting over 100 outlets. Prices will be conveyed to the dealers a day earlier by 8:30 PM. Consumers too will be provided with the change in price by sms and press release.

 

Currently the state owned revise petrol and diesel rates on the 1st and 16th of every month based on average international price of fuel.

Current Petrol and diesel rates

In Udaipur petrol costs Rs 70.57 a litre and diesel Rs 61.23

In Jamshedpur petrol costs Rs 69.33 a litre and diesel Rs 60.26.
In Chandigarh a litre of petrol costs Rs 67.65 and diesel is priced at Rs 57.74.

In Vizag, petrol costs Rs 72.68 a litre and diesel Rs 62.81.

In Puducherry, petrol is priced at Rs 66.02 per litre and diesel Rs 58.68 a litre.

Indian Oil Corporation said customers may verify fuel prices by downloading the company app or visiting its website.
