Sonia Gandhi in Hospital, Can Rahul take up the responsibility now please

New Delhi, Sonia Gandhi: Sonia Gandhi is a strong leader and the biggest crowd-puller for the Old Congress party. However, the fact can’t be simply ignored is that the 69-year-old Congress chief has been suffering due to her poor health for quite some time and frequently falling ill, which has become a matter of great concern for the Congress party.

She was first admitted in hospital August, during the Road show against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi constituency, where she got very high fever and dehydration and now again she is ill. It shows she is getting ill twice in a short span of time.

In 2011, when she was seriously ill and was admitted to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York for a minor surgery, her absence was seriously felt in the congress party, it was then when the voice for Rahul Gandhi to come up as a president of the party was raised. It was Rahul, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel and Janardan Dwivedi, a four member team then constituted to look after the organizational affairs in her absence.

Recently at the congress working committee (CWC) on November 7, where Sonia was again unable to attend the meeting and rahul was urged to take over the congress president charge, Rahul said it was her mother who will be taking the decision.

Although Rahul Gandhi has now unofficially or the important decisions are taken by him, still the final take is done by Sonia Gandhi. In the wake of her mother’s illness, which has become quite often, she is unable to attend the ongoing winter parliament as well, will Rahul Gandhi take over the top most job in the congress party, is it not the high time for Rahul Gandhi.
