20 years ago, a man walked into Dunblane Primary School and murdered 16 children and their teacher.

Soon after the UK banned all handguns.

There have been no school shootings in the UK since. If it works for other countries there is no reason it wouldn’t work for the USA. Talk about making America great? I’d settle for safe aka great.

From my friend - Diana Huston - smart, and someone who understands the importance of facts in a free society.

Fact: '20 years ago, A man walked into Dunblane Primary school and murdered 16 children and their teacher. Soon After the UK banned the ownership of all handguns, there have been no school shooting th the UK Since" - Fact

Of course, if this man did not have a handgun but only carried a knife, I believe many more of those wonderful children and the teacher would be still be alive today.

Today someone read to me this statement, that's been making the rounds on social media.

"20 years ago, a man walked into a Dunblane Ireland primary school and murdered 16 children and their teacher. Shortly thereafter the U.K. banned the ownership of all handguns. There have been no U.K. shootings in any school, since"

Just thinking out loud here,

"kind of a weird coincidence. Or is it?"

Viral Message Verification:-  This information is being shared on the social media after the February 201 Parkland School shooting in Florida where more than 17 children’s and teachers lost their life.

It is a true information that indeed on 12 March 1996. The Dunblane school massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School near Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland, on 13 March 1996, when gunman Thomas Hamilton killed 16 children and one teacher before killing himself. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history.

Public debate about the killings centered on gun control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official inquiry, which produced the 1996 Cullen Reports. In response to this debate, two new Firearms Acts were passed, which greatly restricted private ownership of firearms in Great Britain.

As per the UK THE FIREARMS (AMENDMENT) ACTS 1997

The provisions of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 entered into force between March and October 1997, and those of the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 entered into force in February 1998.

The surrender of handguns, and the payment of compensation, took place during 1998. As of 19 January, 162,198 handguns had been surrendered and a total of £89 million had been paid in compensation;

The legislative action  have almost brought an end to school massacre, unlike comparison to the American school, where the incident like this have become a routine affair.
