Viral Message Verification – This is an old viral image and message in circulation from last year 2016. As per the viral spam, 20 thousand Crore in new notes was seized is a spam.

The message says

1- Cash belonged to a BJP MLA
2- Cash seized was in new currency notes
3- The BJP MLA recieved cash before government announcement of demonetisation of higher currency notes.

As per the fact, An election team obstructed a vehicle in 2016 and seized Rs 6 crore and not Rs 20,000 as claimed in the viral message. An election squad, on duty on Osmanabad-Tuljapur bypass road, intercepted a car last month and seized Rs 6 crore (not Rs 20,000 crore as claimed in the message) from the vehicle.

The seized cash from the car was in the form of demonetised currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 and not in new notes.

During investigation by the officials, after the seizure, they claimed to be personnel of an urban cooperative bank in Sangli and told that cash belonged to the bank.

Ganesh,The chairman of Sanli Urban Bank, had declared the money from his bank. And the car was banks and the motorist had a bank ID eveidence with other files associated with the money.

Sangli Urban bank has nine branches in total six districts of Marathwada and On November 8, 2016, after PM Narendra Modi announced of the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination currency notes that it will cease to be legal tenders, the cash was being transported to Parbhani and Mazalgaon branches of the bank.

Thus the notes were of the bank and not of the BJP MLA, as spread in the viral message from long time.
