Jammu, Nagrota: Every human life is precious and especially if it comes to the national army, there is no doubt in it. The total casualty in the Nagrota attack has gone up; seven army personal has been martyred in this attack.

In a terrorist attack, a group of heavily armed terrorists attacked an army unit on Tuesday, near to the corps headquarter. Post which a heavy gun battle took place which led to further death to seven personal.

Initially a hostage like situation was as well created with almost 12 soldiers, two ladies and two children held captive in a camp in the headquarters. The army successfully freed all the hostages, however, one more officer and two jawans lost their lives during the rescue operation.

The Northern command issued a statement

Udhampur, 29 November: In the early hours of 29 November 2016, a group of heavily armed terrorist disguised in police uniform targeted an Army unit located three kilometers from the Corps Headquarters at Nagrota. The terrorist forced their entry into the officers mess. Complex by throwing grenades and firing at the sentries. In the initial counter action, one officer and three soldiers of the Army were martyred. The terrorist entered two buildings which were occupied by Officers. Families and men. This led to a hostage like situation.  The situation was very quickly contained and thereafter, in a deliberate operation all were successfully rescued, which included 12 soldiers, two ladies and two children. However, in the rescue attempt one more officer and two jawans sacrificed their lives. Bodies of Three terrorists have been recovered and operations are in progress to sanitize the complete Area.
