Amit Shah refuses to accept countrywide ban on beef for public sentiments
Goa, Panaji: BJP President Amit Shah has refused to say yes to the nation ban on beef in Goa. He said that in this regard, the states have to take decisions in view of the people's sensitivities.
BJP President Amit Shah said, wherever BJP is the government, we will consider the people's consciences before banning beef. We did not say that we will ban beef in the whole country. BJP governments of Maharashtra and Haryana have banned beef. Shah clarified that in those states where the BJP governments are, the party will not insist on banning the beef in those states.
Amit Shah was in Goa today. When he was asked about the ban on cow slaughter in Goa during the interaction with journalists, he said that the Goa government will take a decision after discussions with the people. He said on the controversial statement of union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi that he people who eat beef can go to Pakistan, he said that it is his personal opinion. Earlier, the BJP President had said about former the Supreme Court Judge Markandey Katju, President of the Press Council of India, that if he has the courage come and eat cow in Gujarat.
